Welcome To Miles For Macha!
My name is Greg and I have created this website to create awareness and raise support for a
new elementary school that is being built in the remote village of
Macha, Zambia, Africa.
My
parents have been living in this village for the past several years. They are helping to build a new elementary school for the local children and the many orphaned and abandoned children of the region. There is a desperate need for a quality elementary school in this area as many of the children have been growing up without any education at all. The goal of MICS (Macha Innovative Christian School) is to provide local children with a quality education and the opportunity to achieve their full potential.

Progress has not been easy for MICS. They have had to live without running water and electricity. The community center that was the temporary home of the school was lost in a devastating fire. After many struggles, things are really beginning to happen in Macha.

Thanks to the generous support of many outside sources, much progress has been made on MICS. Currently over 60 children are enrolled. The new school exterior structure is nearly complete and the interior has been started. Many supplies and school furnishing items have even been shipped over in a cargo container.

A boarding home is also being built for some of the many abandoned and orphaned children without parents. This school and boarding home will allow these children an opportunity that would never have been possible.
One of the schools biggest needs at this point is a reliable 4x4 vehicle to transport the children and supplies. Many of the children have to walk several miles to school every day. Walking this far to school makes regular attendance nearly impossible, especially during the rainy season. A commercial 4x4 vehicle that would be safe, reliable and allow these children the opportunity to attend a quality school would be a true blessing.

What Can We Do?
I will be running in the New York City Marathon
On November 2, 2008. I am committing months of training, sweat, and pain into running these 26.2 miles.
I am asking for pledges of $1 for each mile that I will be running on Nov 2.
I am asking for pledges of $1 for each mile that I will be running on Nov 2.
In other words, I am asking everyone to dig deep into their
pockets and donate $26.20 to these children and this worthy cause.
Of course any donation amount will be gladly accepted!
100% of the money raised will go directly toward the purchase of this new 4x4 vehicle. Thank you so much for reading about this new school in Zambia and your willingness to help!
